I was driving through Durand Park in Irondequoit early this fine afternoon, cruising down King’s Highway and I almost hit a turkey.

If you’ve ever driven down that stretch, you may know what I’m talking about.

I’ve seen them before. They hang out in this dude’s yard for some reason, always in the same place. Like 10 of them. I find it strange that the turkeys choose this one spot — do they just like it there? Why? There’s nothing special about it and it’s actually dangerously close to the road… Maybe the dude feeds them. These are the kinds of thoughts that kept me from paying attention in class…

I can honestly say that it was the first time I ever came close to hitting a turkey with my car.

Mmmm, turkey…
